2008 Events Calendar

June 4-6 - Car Restoration Days: Patterned after Friends of C&TS work sessions. Come and spend some time in the beautiful San Juan Mountains and work on the Museum's historic narrow gauge rolling stock.

June 7 - Rides on Motor #1: On the half hour at the Museum from 10 am to 4 pm.

August 9-10 - Ridgway Arts and Crafts Show: The Museum will have an information booth and bookstore at this community event. You can ride Motor #1 on the half hour at the Museum from 10 am to 4 pm.

Sept 6-7 - Rides on Motor #1. Our re-created Motor #1 will be operating on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad out of Chama, New Mexico.

Sept 11-14 - Ouray County Railroad Days . This weekend event includes a Museum open house, rides on Motor #1, a Narrow Gauge Railroad Symposium, hikes from Red Mountain Pass to Guston and from Guston to the Albany Smelter on the Silverton Railroad Grade, and guided tours tracing the routes of the D&RGW from Ridgway to Ouray and the RGS from Ridgway to Lizard Head Pass.

2008 Railroad Days schedule and details

Public Presentations. The Museum has a number of community activities including presentations to elementary school classes in Ridgway, Ouray and Montrose as well as talks in the Ouray Evenings in History series and at the Ridgway State Park.

Monthly Work Sessions. There are monthly work sessions from 9:00 AM til noon on the second Saturday of each month (May through October). At these work sessions there are a number of projects suitable for all ability levels. The monthly board meeting takes place at 1:00 pm (all year) after the work session and is open to the public.
